The show features an aspiring model, her toy-boy lover and one Jewish man who is furious that his ultra-orthodox parents deprived him of bacon for the first 26 years of his life.

Bringing home the bacon: Luzer Twersky, star of a new reality show, says his first bite of bacon made him angry that he had been deprived of it for so long. The show follows three Jewish New Yorkers who have ditched their Hasidic community. Twersky's co-stars are striking year-old divorcee Pearlperry Reich, who is hoping to launch her modelling career and her toy-boy lover.

Noah Sheinmann, an executive producer at No Regrets Entertainment, said the company is now shopping the show to the networks, and is still searching for a fourth cast member leaving the faith to sign up. Similar to other reality shows 'Shunned' seems to focus on relationships and marital woes but Sheinmann argues that the appeal of the programme is that it shines a light on the Hasidic community, which, he argues, many people are ignorant about.

Aspirations: Pearlperry Reich is taking part in the show with the hopes of launching her modelling and acting career.

Past life: The show follows Reich as she divorces her husband and fights for custody of her children. All three people taking part in the show were in arranged marriages and are now either divorced or in the proceedings of getting divorced. The star of the show looks set to be aspiring model and actress Pearlperry Reich, a glamorous mother-of-four who is in the middle of a custody battle over her children.

Model behaviour: Pearlperry Reich appears in the show with her toy-boy lover. Twersky, who grew up in the Belz and Satmar sects in Borough Park, was married after his first date at 19 and is now divorced with two children. He confessed to enjoying single life after separating from his wife but is now happily in a relationship with a blond, Irish-Catholic girl from Arkansas. And as well as the revelatory taste of bacon Twersky has watched Star Wars for the first time since moving away from his strict Jewish faith.

At least now I can understand what people are talking about; "May the force be with you. Atara Twersky is an attorney who lives in New York City with her husband and three children. She was inspired to write the Curlee Girlee series by her youngest daughter, whose own hair made her feel different--not in a good way. Atara hopes her books will inspire girls everywhere to love the things about themselves that make them unique.

Atara loves fashion, swimming, skiing, and relaxing with her husband and children. She loves water parks and roller coasters, and sometimes laughs so hard that her kids think she is having more fun than they are!

Atara's favorite poem is "If" by Rudyard Kipling. She has been reciting it from memory since she was ten years old. The thing that surprised Atara most as she began writing the Curlee Girlee books was how naturally the words came to her. The first story had been brewing in her head for years--ever since her daughter was a curly-headed toddler--and as her children grow and change, she finds herself thinking of many more stories to tell.

Atara is equally surprised by how much her children love and relate to her books, and how proud they are of her for completing them. Recently, her eleven-year-old son said, "Mommy, you were a lawyer and then one day you decided to be a writer.
